چکیده

The slow solar wind belt in the quiet corona, observed with Metis coronagraph on board Solar Orbiter May 15, 2020, during activity minimum of cycle 24, a field view extending from 3.8 $R_\odot$ to 7.0 $R_\odot$, is formed by and dense stream running along coronal current sheet, accelerating radial direction reaching at 6.8 speed within 150 km s$^{-1}$ 190 s$^{-1}$, depending assumptions velocity distribution neutral hydrogen atoms plasma. separated thin regions high shear faster streams, almost symmetric relative peak 175 230 same level. density-velocity structure zone discussed terms expansion factor open magnetic lines that known be related quasi-steady wind, relation presence web quasi separatrix layers, S-web, potential sites reconnection release plasma into wind. parameters characterizing are derived 3D MHD model calculations. Micr,o-events in the Active and Quiet Solar Corona

The content of hot material in the corona is not constant. Soft X-ray and high-temperature EUV line observations show that new material, apparently heated and evaporated from the chromosphere, is frequently injected into the corona both in active and quiet regions. Active regions are found to exhibit transient brightenings, termed here microflares, due to such enhancements in emission measure. ...

Heating events in the quiet solar corona: multiwavelength correlations

Coronal, transition region and chromospheric lines and centimeter radio emission of the quiet Sun have been simultaneously observed by SoHO and the VLA. The corona above the magnetic network has a higher pressure and is more variable than above the interior of supergranular cells. The Fourier transform in time is found to have steeper spectra in the corona and upper chromosphere than in the tra...

Ion Cyclotron Damping in the Solar Corona and Solar Wind

The solar corona is the hot, ionized outer atmosphere of the Sun. Coronal plasma expands into interplanetary space as a supersonic bulk outflow known as the solar wind. This tenuous and unbounded medium is a unique laboratory for the study of kinetic theory in a nearly collisionless plasma, as well as magnetohydrodynamic waves, shocks, and jets. Particle velocity distributions in the solar wind...

Composition Variations in the Solar Corona and Solar Wind

Order of magnitude variations in relative elemental abundances are observed in the solar corona and solar wind. The instruments aboard SOHO make it possible to explore these variations in detail to determine whether they arise near the solar surface or higher in the corona. A substantial enhancement of low First Ionization Potential (FIP) elements relative to high FIP elements is often seen in ...

On the Slow Solar Wind

A theory for the origin of the slow solar wind is described. Recent papers have demonstrated that magnetic flux moves across coronal holes as a result of the interplay between the differential rotation of the photosphere and the non-radial expansion of the solar wind in more rigidly rotating coronal holes. This flux will be deposited at low latitudes and should reconnect with closed magnetic lo...
